Welcome to my first web page!This web page is designed to keep students and parents
informed as to what topics we are currently learning and what we will be studying in
science class for the remainder of the school year. It will also include information
on related web sites, projects, field trips, and science news groups.

Earth Science
Volcanoes Online
This web site includes information about plate tectonics and volcanoes.
It has great graphics and is easy to read. It also contains activities,
review questions, links to top sites, and recommended related books.
United States Geological Survey
This web site gives the latest earthquake information, new and interesting
facts, and explains how to prepare for a quake. Here you can listen to
a real earthquake, view great maps, learn what tools are used in studying
earthquakes, and link to other related web sites.

The Solar System
NASA
This web site is excellent! It will teach you a lot about our solar
system. You will learn why we study it, how we study it, and who the people
are who study it. You will be able to read the most recent press releases
from NASA regarding what they are presently observing in our solar system.
The web site includes super graphics which makes it a very enjoyable "trip".
The Nine Planets
This web site will provide you with an overall look at our solar system,
from planets to asteroids to stars. Your best bet is to start by looking
at the Introduction then surfing through the Overview of the planets.You
will see unbelievably cool graphics, like you were a real astronaut viewing
them and there's even a sound clip you can listen to. It recommends books,
too.

This NASA web site will take you to the main page where you can learn
about various air craft through descriptions and pictures. It also includes
space air crafts! It will tell of current space missions and past space
missions. You can also find out about John Glenn's present mission.
National Air & Space Museum
This web site will explain how things fly by teaching you about the
forces of flight. It also contains the histroy of flight with great graphics
of the flying machines. You will find out cool fact to impress your friends
and family in the "Did You Know" section. You can also test out your knowledge
through hands-on activities.

This site contains many cool graphics of the various constellations and the stars that
make them up. Also contains an easy-to-use index of links.
Information for New Star Gazers
This site has beautiful wallpaper and graphics. It gives you basic, well-rounded information on
the planets, moon, sun and stars.It can help you choose the right telescope to buy, astronomy clubs
to join, and gives a great list of books and other related web sites. P.S. You can listen to cool

This site contains weather events, including mud slides, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. You can also
learn about weather myths and some weather jokes you can impress your friends and science teacher with!
It gives additional weather web sites, real-life weather stories from all over the U.S. and international
stories, too.
Weather Here and There
This web site will teach you weather vocabulary and key background information on weather.
You can also choose a weather project to participate in with lessons, activities, and weather games.
Inner Body
This is one of my favorite sites! Here you will get background information on the
human body, from systems to organs to tissues to cells. The graphics are so unbelievably
real! If you pick a system, click on it to view it. Then click on part of the system and
see its name and a description of the specific part. Don't miss this web site!
Neuroscience for Kids
This site includes background information on the brain and spinal cod. It contains
activities and experiments on the nervous system. It also has a current events section
that relate important events to neuroscience, including the nervous system experiments
performed on John Glenn. You can also find additional internet resouces and off-line resources.
This will be a great reference for you nervous system project!

Environmental Protection Agency
This is an excellent web site!In this web site, you will learn about
wetlands, watersheds, coasts, coeans, etc. You will learn about water quality,
runoff, and groundwater. We can even adopt a watershed and take care of it.
U.S. Geological Survey
In this web site, go under the "water" section to learn about the water
resources in the United States, water quality, water uses, amd many other
important water concerns. There are programs that we can get involved in
locally, like "Adopt Our Watershed" in the Brandywine-Christina area.
The Virtual Zoo
This web site has great facts on animals, including classification, their
habitats, number of kinds of animals in the species,etc. When you click on a
group of animals, for example, marine animals, you can then find out about sharks,
their habitats, number of sharks, great pictures of sharks, and list of related species.
The Electronic Zoo
This web site also contains lots of information on animals. It also includes
"Amazing Animal Facts", "Annimal Diversity Webs", and good facts about the animal
kingdom, in general. You can also click on groups of animals, sounds that animals make,
and see some great graphics, too.

This is an incredible web site. It contains easy to read information on how plants
grow, photosynthesis, pollination, and germination, to name a few topics. You will also
find some great graphics and activities.
What's It Like Where You Live?
This is a super site! Here you will find an array of biomes to choose from. When you
select a particular biome, you can learn about its climate, location, plant life, animal
life, and links to other resources. It is easy to read, has beautiful graphics, posts
related questions, and answers.
National Wildlife Foundation
This web site ties in a couple of our science topics, including the environment,
plants, habitats, wildlife, and people and the environment. It gives great background
information and fun, related activities.
Endangered Species Act
This web page will teach you about The Endangered Species Act, when it started, how it
started, why it's important, and what animals it protects. It also contains information
on what we can do to help out! What can we do to help protect our endangered plants
and animals?
